Frank A. Spudis, 82, joined his wife, Grace, in eternal rest on Sunday May 28, 2017 at the United Methodist Homes, Wesley Village Campus, Pittston, where he resided.

Born in Pittston, he was the son of the late Charles and Veronica Zemaitis Spudis.

Frank attended Pittston schools and graduated with a business degree from Wilkes College.  He played football and basketball all four years of high school and was considered a key contributor to the football program at Wilkes, as both a player and a coach.  

He was the proprietor of Fran-Jo’s Pizza, Pittston and spent many years as an Insurance Manager with INA, currently CIGNA. In later years he was a car salesman. Throughout his lifetime Frank enjoyed providing counsel to those who sought him out for financial, spiritual and emotional advice and support.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially his family who are sending prayers of love and peace with him on his final journey.


He was preceded in death by his wife, the former, Grace Inglima Spudis, daughter Lisa Perry and brothers Joseph and John Bender and sisters Mary Sabanskas, Anna Leelike and Agnes Nowakowski.


Surviving are his children: Laura (Kevin) Lawrence, Depew, N.Y., Lynne (George) Brown, West Wyoming, Frank (Kelly) Spudis, Shavertown, and Sandra Smargiassi, Duryea.

Grandchildren: Paul and Michelle Fath, Adam and Amy Brown, Stephanie and Connor Spudis and Joshua and Brandon Smargiassi.

Great grandchildren: Sophia Hill and Gavin Tucker.


Relatives and friends may call on Thursday from 4-7pm at the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.

Funeral services will be on Friday at 9:00am from the funeral home .A mass of Christian burial will follow at 9:30am at St. Barbara Parish at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 221 Memorial St., Exeter.
The Rev. Joseph Verespy, his former pastor, will be  celebrant.

Interment will be in Plymouth Independent Cemetery, West Wyoming.

It has been my pleasure and honor to know Frank these last several years. From his literal explanation of the power of line blocking through his probing, "How you feeling?", his sincerity and caring nature were ever present. He is an example of the best of fathers. His progeny make this evident every day. Rest easy, Frank.
