Armonde J. Casagrande, 96, of West Wyoming, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Highland Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Exeter, PA surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Pittston, Armonde was the son of the late Anthony and Philomena Roberti  Casagrande.
He was a graduate of St. Cecilia High School and the Wyoming Seminary School of Business. He was employed by the PA Game Commission in Harrisburg and the U.S. Postal Service in Wilkes-Barre. He later served as Postmaster of Noxen until his retirement. Armonde was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Post 102 in Kingston, the American Legion, Post 904 in West Wyoming, the National Association of Postmaster and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He was a member of St. Monica’s Parish at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in West Wyoming as well as an active member of the Wyoming/West Wyoming Senior Citizens where he served as past president.

Armonde was a proud veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army with the 343rd and 369th Combat Engineers. He was awarded the Army Good Conduct Medal, the European African Middle East Campaign Medal with 8 Bronze Stars and one Bronze Arrowhead, the World War II Victory Medal, the American Campaign Medal and the Germany Occupation Medal. His service included campaigns in Algeria, French Morocco, Tunisia, Sicily and Italy. He was also involved in the invasion of Sothern France and the occupation of the Rhineland in Central Europe. Last year, Armonde was honored to have been chosen to be the Grand Marshall of the Wyoming/West Wyoming Memorial Day Parade.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Annabelle L. Ninotti in 2013, his three brothers Dominic, Angelo, Victor and his sister Mary Lillis.

He is survived by his son Armonde J. Casagrande and his wife, Nancy of Exeter; daughter Maria Kepich and her husband, Daniel of Bath, NY; his six granddaughters, Amy Casagrande, Lisa Fisher and her husband Jed, Alicia Kepich MD, Jacey Kepich, Jenna Kepich, and Danielle Kepich. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Mason, Annabelle and Emily Fisher; a sister, Antoinette Manganiello and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday from the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church of St. Monica's Parish, West Wyoming.

Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.

Relatives and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
