Mildred " Millie" Tona, 77, formerly of West Wyoming, passed away on  Monday, May 9,2016 at the United Methodist Homes, Wesley Village Nursing Home, Pittston.

Born in Edwardsville, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Stella Boraski Petras.


Millie was a member of St. Monica's Parish at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, West Wyoming, and was a 1958 graduate of Edwardsville High School.

She had worked at the Wyoming Area School District in the cafeteria.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph in 2005 and a brother Joseph Petras.

Surviving are her children: Bess Ann and her husband Bernard Pernot, Rochester, NY and Joseph D. and his wife Diane Tona, Plains.

Grandchildren: Matthew and Anne Marie Pernot, Syracuse NY, Jillian Pernot,  Scottsville, NY, Nicholas and Erika Pernot, Alexandria, VA, Michael Pernot, Rochester, NY and Joseph M. Tona and Mary Elizabeth Tona, Plains,
Also 6 great grandchildren.

Her brothers; Stephen and his wife Carol Petras, Long Island, NY and Felix (Phil) and his wife Ann Petras, Baton Rouge, LA, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call on Thursday from 5pm to 8pm at the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.

Funeral services will be on Friday at 9am from the funeral home with a  Mass of Christian burial at 9:30am at St. Monica's Parish in Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 8th St., West Wyoming.

Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.

We will always remember your Mother, Millie, as a vibrant, fun-loving, beautiful woman and always a friendly face to see at family functions. She had a way of making each person feel important and special. You and your family have so many loving memories, and we hope they will bolster you at this sad time.
