Anthony B. Mirra, 86, of Exeter, passed away on Saturday April 23, 2016 at the Kings Grant House Assisted Living, Virginia Beach, Va.

Born in Exeter, he was the son of the late Dominick, Sr. and Josephine Naples Mirra.

Mr. Mirra was a member of St. Barbara Parish at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Exeter, and was a graduate of Exeter High School.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served his country during World War II.

Prior to his retirement, he had worked as an equipment superintendent for Sordoni Construction Co. for over 40 years.

He was preceded in death by hia daughter Susan Mirra, brother Dominick Mirra, Jr. and sister Anna Mirra and daughter in law Kathleen Mirra.

Surviving are his children: David Mirra , John (Karen), Virginia Beach, Va. and Cynthia Browning (Wiley).

Grandchildren: Erica and Nicholas, Mirra and Jessa O'Brian and Mark Mirra.

Also a sister, Mary Salerno, West Pittston, nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial was held on Wednesday  April 27, 2016 at  St. Anthony of Padua Church, ( St. Barbara Parish) , Exeter.
Interment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.

Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to the Kings Grant House Assisted Living, 440 N. Lynn Haven Rd., Virginia Beach, Va. 23452 or to the charity of your choice.

John and Family, Please know that we here at the VBEA are keeping you and your family in our thoughts and prayers. You are blessed to have had your Dad all of these years. You have so many beautiful memories, pictures and special times with your DAD. Know that time is a beautiful healer. Your faith and the love of family and friends will help to sustain you. My deepest condolences to John and his family. You lost a treasurer. To my dearest friend. All the memories will always be in heart, I will never forget you my friend. You were like a brother, father and dear friend all wrapped up in one. I hope Tony you can meet up with my JoAnn, I know she would like that. Keep a watch over me I need someone more than ever. Till we meet again my dear friend.

Thank you for doing an outstanding job protecting our county during WW2..I always have time to Thank a vet..Found a BlueJackets Manual USN book today when i was out flea marketing..The inside of the books reads whats listed below an some..Guessing it below to you at one time..Again I Thank you, Go RIP with your crew..God Bless America.
