Mary (Cathy) Durkin, 72, of Pittston passed away peacefully , Sunday December 13, 2015 at the Celtic Hospice Inpatient Unit, Geisinger South Hospital, Wilkes-Barre surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Pittston on September 6, 1943, she was the daughter of the late John and Laura Hughes Durkin. She was a graduate of St. John the Evangelist School Class of 1961 and was also a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston. She obtained an Associate degree in Accounting from McCann school of Business. and was employed many years by Laura Fashions, Avoca and was then employed by Rednars Warehouse Market, Pittston until her retirement.
Preceding her in death besides her parents were a brother John ( Butch) Durkin and a sister Margaret ( Cookie) Tomsak.
Surviving are her brother Thom Durkin and his wife Laura, Pittston Twp., and nephews Tom Tomsak and his wife Amy, Exeter, Robert Tomsak, West Wyoming. and nieces Kelly Vincelli and her husband Greg, Pittston, Laura Tomsak, Stamford, Conn., brother in law Joseph Tomsak, West Wyoming, 2 great nieces Sara and Megan Tomsak and great nephew Grant Vincelli who brought joy to her life.
Along with several cousins and a longtime friend, Shirley Lanunziata.
Funeral services will be held 9:00am Wednesday from the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, 1030 Wyoming Ave.,Exeter with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30am in St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Avoca.
