Joseph  Francis S. Sokoloski, 73, of West Wyoming, passed away on Thursday May 29, 2014 at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp., surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Luzerne, he was the son of Mary Hydock Sokoloski, Edwardsville and the late Peter Sokoloski.

He attended Luzerne schools and graduated from Luzerne County Community College.

Mr. Sokoloski was a U.S. Veteran, having served in the Army and Air Force during the Gulf War.
Most of his career was working as a concrete mason in the construction industry.

He was a 3rd degree Knights of Columbus, Council # 3987, Luzerne.

Preceding him in death were his brothers, Peter Jr. , and Richard Sokoloski and a sister Bernadine Weiner.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years, the former Lorraine Turkson Sokoloski, and daughters, Brenda Ann and her husband John Blockus, Tunkhannock and Fla. And Natalie and her husband Pete Johnson, Inkerman.
Grandchildren; Nicholas and Matthew Blockus and Gianna Johnson.
Siblings; Rose Nafus, Denton, Md, Paul and his wife Carol Sokoloski, Luzerne, Dorothy and her husband William Judge, Dallas, and Veronica Sokoloski, Trucksville
Numerous nieces and nephews

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9:45 am from the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00am at Holy Family Church, 571 Bennett St., Luzerne with the Rev. Michael Zipay, as celebrant.

Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.

Relatives and friends are invited to visitation on Friday from 5-8pm at the funeral home.
