Helen M. Harmanos, 90, a resident of the Anderson Personal Care of United Methodist Homes,Jenkins Twp. and formerly of Exeter passed away on Wednesday January 29, 2014 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Exeter, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Shedlock and Susan Racz Tkach.

Helen was a former member of St. John the Baptist Church, and its Altar and Rosary Society  and the Christian Mothers and most recently of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston.
She had worked at Topps Chewing Gum, Duryea as a production worker and belonged to the Teamsters Union.
She was also a member of the Cosmopolitan Senior Citizens Society.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband George  J. in 2003 and brothers John and Andrew Shedlock.

Surviving are her children:  Ruth and her husband Dr. James Walsh, Sarasota, Fla, Susan and her husband David Barnousky, Harding; George and his wife MaryAnn, Bethlehem; and Stephen and his wife Kathleen, Exeter.
Also 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren

Funeral services will be at 9:30am Tuesday from Gubbiotti Funeral Home, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.

A mass of Christian burial will follow at 10:00am at St. John the Evangelist Church, William St., Pittston, with the Msgr. John Bendick, as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. John the Baptist  Slovak Cemetery, Schooley Ave., Exeter.

Relatives and friends are invited to visitation on Monday from 5 until 8 pm at funeral home

The family requests that any  donations kindly be made to the Care and Concern Clinic, c/o St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston.

My mom, Genevieve was a friend of Helen's at Anderson. She wishes to express her sympathy as she and your mom talked of family often. I was privileged to meet her on several occasions. Helen was a warm and gracious woman who will be missed.
