Maurice J. Monahan, Jr., 83, of Swoyersville, passed away on Thursday October 10, 2013 at his home.

Born in Luzerne, he was the son of the late Maurice J. Monahan, Sr. and Amelia Reese Monahan.

He was a graduate of Swoyersville High School and a U.S. Army Veteran.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Ashley Tool and Die Co., West Wyoming.

Preceding him in death were his sisters Mary Lou Tabias, and Jean Vanderoff and brothers Robert and Raymond Monahan.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, the former Mary Randazzo and children: Maurice J. Monahan, III and his companion Leslie Homeschek,  Harveys Lake and Nancy and her husband Edward Foster,  Swoyersville, 3 grandchildren. Also a brother Larry and his wife Beverly Monahan, Wyoming.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend memorial services on Saturday October 19, 2013 at 3 PM  at the Wilkes-Barre Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1240 Scott St., Wilkes-Barre.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.
