Alvine Dumler Obituary
September 11, 2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Alvine Dumler.
She was born in 1929 in Borrissow, Russia. Emigrated to Germany and then to the United States in 1955.
Alvine’s culinary talents were legendary and she enjoyed a 35 year illustrious career as one of Syracuse’s premier caterers.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband Edgar Dumler.
Surviving her are her six children Inge (Timothy) Pinckney, Edgar Dumler, Lilli Dumler (Donald Clarfeld), Renate Dumler (Adam Vaczek), Anita Jones, Irene Hess (deceased son in law William Billy Hess).
One of Alvine’s greatest sources of pride were her five grandchildren Christopher Pinckney, Sarah Clark, Dr. Matthew Hess, Erik Dumler and Dr. Jonathan Hess.
We extend a heartfelt thank you and our gratitude to the caring staffs at Greenpoint, St. Camillus and Upstate Hospital.
Memorial Service will be 10:00am Saturday at Gang Memorial Chapel 104 Fordham Rd at Teall Ave, Syracuse

Dear Eddie and Renate,
I am so sorry to hear of your moms passing. I remember her as I was growing up. I went to school at McKinley-Brighton with you Renate and I helped your brother Eddie with his paper route. I remember your mom from coming over to your house. Please accept my sincerest condolences.

Dear Dumler Family,
I am so sorry to hear about your mother. My family lived in the same neighborhood as your family when we were kids. I was friends with Lilli during our McKinkey-Brighton school years and have very fond memories of Mrs Dumler, she was always so nice and welcoming to all the neighborhood kids. My sincere sympathy to your family.

I am Renate's husband, and knew Alvine for over 40 years. She always had a twinkle in her eye, and loved to laugh and joke. She especially loved being with her husband Edgar, and they made a sweet couple. We spent many enjoyable moments together over the years, and I will miss her.

Mother Dear, we were so different , yet I am my mother's daughter. As my first female role model , you taught me how to be a survivor. I just begun to process I cannot just drive a few miles and see you . It was the most difficult thing I did staying with you as you took your last breath, but I vowed to help usher you into Dad's waiting arms and not leave your side. It was a spiritual connection I'll carry for the rest of my life. Thank you for all you were and did to make our lives better. Your grandsons Matthew &Jonathan and I will deeply miss you. Ich Liebe Dich . Halt Dich An Gott. 🕉
