Carol Walter, 76, of East Syracuse passed away October 5, 2016 in the home that she loved. She was born in Syracuse to the late Ernest and Margaret Pike Woods on October 10, 1939. She was a proud graduate of Syracuse University School of Nursing.
Carol had many jobs through out her long career but none so loved as her job with the Onondaga County Department of Corrections. Once retired, she continued to care for others making a difference in the lives of those she touched.
She was a beloved wife to her loving husband, a dear mother to her children, an incredible Mema to her grandchildren and a beautiful gift and "Ma" to her great grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Wayne: her 5 children David (Deb) Grabosky of California; Denise "Dede" Lytle of East Syracuse, Pamela (Rick) Grabosky Smith of Penn Yan, Jonathan Walter and Kristen Walter both of East Syracuse. Her 9 grandchildren: Brendan (Kate), Courtney, Michael, Jacob, Matthew, Ariana, Sophia, Eva and Brisco, 2 great-grandchildren Giana and Jaida; one cousin Jackie (Chuck) Butterfield; son-in-law Kevin Lytle and many, many friends whom she considered family.
She was predeceased by her granddaughter Regan Elizabeth Lytle in 1989.
A private family service will be held at Gang Memorial Chapel on October 11, 2016.

We are so sad on the loss of Carol. Cheryl was always in stitches with Carol sitting next to her in the Choir, she was hilarious! We were blessed to know her. May she be at peace in Heaven, giving smiles to everyone she meets.

WAYNE ,JOHN ,KRISTEN ,DEDE ,DAVID AND PAM WE WERE SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR LOSS. SHE WAS A GREAT NEIGHBOR AND FRIEND . I REALLY ENJOYED OUR LITTLE CHATS OVER THE FENCE THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER LIKE HER I WILL CHARISH MY MEMORIES OF HER . SHE IS IN HEAVEN WITH HER BELOVED PETS NOW AND NO LONGER IN PAIN .

Carol was one of the sweetest and kindest ladies we have ever met. We loved getting together with her and enjoyed her wonderful sense of humor. The world has lost an amazing woman, but we know that she lives on in every person who was blessed to know her. Our sincerest condolences and love to her family.

To Carol's family I worked with Carol at both the PSB and Jamesville she was a quiet gentile
woman that I shared many wonderful moments with. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of her family.
