Virginia E. Fabisiak

Virginia Elizabeth Fabisiak (Rajkowski) of Dewitt N.Y. passed into the arms of the Lord at age 90 at Iroquois Nursing Home, Syracuse N.Y. on Thursday, December 17.  Virginia was born to the late Joseph and Valentina (Bednarowicz) Rajkowski on November 15, 1925.  Virginia was a first-generation American born after her parents emigrated from conflict-ridden Poland in the early 1900s.  She relished the chances for educational opportunity in the new world especially for her son and grandson.

On May 26, 1951 she married Edmund Fabisiak who remained her loving husband for 65 years.  Her work was making a loving and comfortable home for her family.  She also participated as a volunteer at St. Joseph’s Hospital.  She enjoyed passing down Polish tradition and spending time with her family, especially her grandson Luke, and delighted in vacationing at camps on Big Moose and Francis Lakes in the Adirondacks.  She appreciated the natural world and took great pleasure in watching the birds and animals from her backyard window.  She is predeceased by her parents, sisters Irene (Goss), Jean (Ace), and brother Edward.

She is survived by her husband Edmund, son James (Margaret Schramm), grandson Luke, and sister Helen (Donovan).

The family would like to thank the medical and nursing staff at SUNY Upstate Medical Comprehensive Stroke Center for their compassionate care following her recent stroke.

Calling hours will be from 3 - 6 PM Sunday at Gang Memorial Chapel and a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday 11:00am at Holy Cross Church. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery,Dewitt.
