John Joseph Venner
John Joseph Venner, “Big Ven,” 58 passed away after a courageous battle with liver disease on Monday, November 9th, 2015. He was a loving husband, father, PaPa, brother, uncle, son-in-law, brother-in-law, and a loyal, lifelong friend.
John was born in Syracuse, NY to the late William and Dorothy (Damon) Venner. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Thomas Venner, and mother-in-law, Fanny Milazzo.
He lived his whole live on the Northside of Syracuse. John graduated from Henninger High School. Through the years he was employed by Crouse Hinds, Carrier Corp., and finally retired from the NY State D.O.T. (west) after 22 years of service.
John was an avid NY Yankees, Buffalo Bills, NASCAR, and Harley Davidson fan. He enjoyed caring for and driving his various vehicles over the years. He was a former member of the Pastime Athletic Club.
He also enjoyed fishing and camping. John loved caring for and playing with the many children that came into his life; they all called him “Big John.” He was a trusted and loyal friend, who never was shy about letting his friends know how much he loved them.
Survivors: his loving and devoted wife of 36 years, Debbie: sons John Joseph Venner II (Melissa) of North Syracuse and Jason Michael Venner (Chelsea Reynolds) of Syracuse. One grandson, John Joseph Venner III. Sister, Kathleen Ciciarelli (Mike) of Liverpool and brother, William Venner II (Tina) of Georgia. Father-in-law, Dick Milazzo, and brothers- and sisters-in-law Angelo and Cheryl Milazzo of Liverpool and Richard and Theresa Milazzo of Camillus, his “special” cousin Angela Cummings, as well as several nieces, nephews, and many faithful friends and extended family members. John also leaves behind his beloved pets, Harley and Max.
The family would like to thank all the caring staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
