Alois (Alex) J. Engler

Alex was born to Paul and Anna Engler on August 30, 1928 in Friedland (Niederschlesien), Germany. At the age of 5, moved to Liebau (Riesengebirge), Germany. In 1944, he joined the German Navy and was captured by the British and was a prisoner of war until 1948. Alex married Irma Faerber in 1955 in Ingolstadt/Bayern, Germany. In 1958, they moved to Glacier National Park, Montana and in 1963 moved to Syracuse, NY. He has been an active member of the German community, serving as past-president of the United German-American Society and charter member of the Bavarian Almenrausch Club.
Alex owned Continental Barbershop in Eastwood during the 1960's and moved to N. Syracuse. He was a producer and host of German Radio Show for 35 years. He was a representative of the (IADM) International Association of German Media (USA & Canada).
Alex is survived by his wife of 61 years, Irma and son Norman of Cicero.
There are no services or calling hours planned. Entombment in N. Syracuse Cemetery Mausoleum.
