December 22nd, 2015
Dominick Caiella, 91, of West Monroe passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 22nd, surrounded by his family. Dominick was born in Syracuse, NY and worked as a laborer with Laborers Local 214 for over 30 years. Prior to that, Doc worked as a self-employed mason. One of his most notable achievements was laying the brick at Gang Memorial Chapel. Doc was an avid woodsman, hunter, and fisherman. He was a lifetime member of Otto Mills Fish and Game Club. Doc enjoyed celebrating the 4th of July with his family at camp, muskie fishing on the St. Lawrence River, playing poker at the Turning Stone Casino, and watching the Yankees.
Doc is survived by his children Peter and Darlene, granddaughters Erica (Jon) and Lisa, great-grandchildren Lucas and Caleb, and generations of nieces and nephews. Also surviving is sibling Rose. Dominick is predeceased by his wife, Arlene.
Special thanks to his neighbors Shirley, Troy, and Kristie, and to the medical staff on the second floor of St. Joseph’s Hospital.
