Eric Scott Porter, age 60, a resident of Greenland Beach for 35 years, and previously of Pasadena, passed on December 5, 2018 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Baltimore.

He was born on April 15, 1958, in Pennsylvania, to the late Jessie Healey and John Thomas Porter. A graduate of Glen Burnie High School, class of 1976, and a member of the Teamster’s Local 355, he worked as a truck driver for Superfresh for 18 years, and Braun Express for 2 years. His hobbies included trains, art, travelling, sight seeing, and reading.

Eric is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years: Mary Long; his loving son Scott Porter, of Greenland Beach; his two dear sisters: Kathy Baker, of Tennessee, and Ethel Porter, of Annapolis; his two devoted brothers: Kirby Porter, of Virginia, and Warren Porter, of Texas; four nieces: Carrie Kinchen, of Georgia, Holly Mashek, of Virginia, Maureen Wiltshire, and Brigette Porter, both of Texas; and three nephews: Jason Baker, of Georgia, Kevin Porter, of Virginia, and Christopher Porter, of Texas.

Family requests friends visit the Gregory J. Gonce Funeral Home, 169 Riviera Drive, Pasadena, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. His funeral service will begin at 6:30 PM, during the evening visitation hours. Those who wish may donate to the Salvation Army in Glen Burnie, and feel free to leave your condolences below as well.
