Walter A. Sturgeon, age 75, a resident of Glen Burnie for 52 years, and previously of Baltimore, passed on February 19, 2018 after a two week illness.
He was born on March 15, 1942, in Baltimore, to the late Irene R. and Walter E. Sturgeon. After graduating from Southern High School, class of 1960, he worked for Acme Market Warehouse until 1969. He then became an agent for the Sun Life Insurance Company until 1991. Afterwards, he worked part time until 2001 as a van driver for movies, and was a member of Teamsters local #355. He was also a member of the American Legion, Sons of Legion, and the Moose Lodge. He had a love of all sports, especially golf; casinos, traveling, cruises, and spending time with his family and friends.
Walter is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years: Joan Sturgeon; his loving daughter Deborah Smith and her husband David; his devoted son Walter J. Sturgeon; his two grandsons: David Smith, Jr. and his wife Kathryn, and Michael Smith; his two granddaughters: Nicole Sabia and her husband Bill, and Amber Sturgeon; his two sisters: Thelma Holden and her husband Angelo, and Geraldine Robey and her husband Bill; and four great granddaughters: Alanna, Madison, Ava, and Natalie.
