Charles H. Hoover, Jr., 75, a resident of Riviera Beach for 48 years, and formerly of Elizabethville, Pennsylvania, died on September 19, 2016 at Hospice of the Chesapeake after battling cancer for two years.

He was born on March 19, 1941, in Elizabethville, PA, to the late Martha (nee Radel) and Charles H. Hoover, Sr. After graduating from Upper Dauphin Joint High School, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving four years active duty and two years in the reserves. He went on to attend the Manpower Development Program in Harrisburg, receiving an associates degree in Electronics Engineering, and retired from Hewlett Packard as a computer technician. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, the Buccaneers Athletic Association of Pasadena, White Rocks Marina, and the United Church of Christ in Elizabethville. His favorite pastime was woodworking, and he also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and sitting on his front porch watching wildlife.

Along with his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his brother Clifford A. Hoover.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years: Patricia A. Hoover; (nee Collier) three sons: Charles H. Hoover, III and his wife Joan, of Columbia, Missouri, Darin L. Hoover and his wife Cindy, of Pasadena, and William P. Hoover and his wife Julie, of Bel Air; his brother Warren D. Hoover and his wife Sibyl; his sister Ann E. Kopko and her husband George; his sister in law Gail; five grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

The family invites friends to visit the Gregory J. Gonce Funeral Home, PA, 169 Riviera Drive, Pasadena, on Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. His funeral service will be held on Friday at 1:30 PM at the funeral home. Graveside service will be on Saturday at 1:30 PM in Riverview Memorial Gardens, Halifax, PA.
