On December 28, 2015, Charles L. Braun, beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Schultz) Braun passed away peacefully.

He is survived by his brothers Robert (Bob) and his wife Patricia (Pat) Brauns, brother Henry Brauns and sister in-law Ada Schultz, numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, god children and friends.

He was affectionately known to everyone as Uncle Charlie; a wonderful person, mentor, father to many, an excellent listener, and a friend who loved to hug everyone. He always referred to Aunt Dorothy, his beloved wife of 58 years, as “His Bride”. Uncle Charlie retired from Bethlehem Steel, and was a University of Maryland graduate where he played basketball which is why he was so passionate about March Madness.  He was an avid sports fan of the Baltimore Colts, Baltimore Ravens, Baltimore Orioles and Maryland Lacrosse.  He lived a long and happy life surrounded by people that dearly loved him and is finally home with his bride.  Uncle Charlie and Aunt Dorothy loved their happy hours at home sitting at the kitchen nook talking, reminiscing and solving all of the world’s problems together and now they are together again having happy hours in heaven.

Per Uncle Charles' request his celebration of life will be scheduled for a later date, which will then be posted here. In the meantime, feel free to express your condolences below.

Rest in Peace Uncle Charlie. You had that special gift of making everyone feel a little bit special, while it was you who were special all along. Hope yourself and Aunt Dorothy are enjoying your new life.

We were both so sorry to hear about Uncle Charlie's passing. He was such a sweet and loving man. We are happy that he is with his beloved "bride", Dorothy. They were and are a wonderful couple. May they both rest in peace. God bless all the family and may you go on with all your wonderful and happy memories until you meet again.

Love, Mike and Patsy

It's hard to sum up a lifetime of memories and feelings. I met Uncle Charlie and Aunt Dorothy in 1976 when I was 14 years old. I have so many wonderful memories. I think what I will miss the most are the times when he stopped by in the morning so we could talk about life. He wasn't afraid to talk candidly about topics of politics, religion, morality, family and sex. We could talk about anything and I welcomed his fatherly advice and loving friendship. I am also most honored to have been the only person to wear the wedding gown of his lovely bride, Aunt Dorothy. I still have it and it is beautiful and well preserved. God bless you Uncle Charlie and thank you for loving me. I will miss you.

We will miss "Uncle Charlie" our lunches at the Sunset Restaurant, solving the world's problems + discussing Terps basketball. Prior to that, we missed the family's Christmas gatherings that Charlie + "His Bride" Dot hosted. We loved them both very much. Who didn't? They were both so kind + affectionate to everyone. Now, they will be together forever.

Charlie worked in the district sales office of Bethlehem Steel Corp. I also worked for Bethlehem, and became acquainted with him through our connection in sales. Charlie was a lovable and caring salesman and a pleasure to work with. For those he felt especially close to, he addressed you as "sweetheart". At one time it seemed quite odd, but after knowing him well, it seemed quite natural. I am sure I speak for many of his coworkers in expressing our sadness. He was a great man and we will miss him.

I was so very sad to hear of Mr. Charlie's passing. He and Miss Dot were my godparents and ,as Mr Charlie always told me, my parents, Mick and Dot Schaub, were their best friends as well. Mr. Charlie and Miss Dot were truly angels on earth. They are all together in heaven now.
