Henry Norris Gallagher, Jr., "Shorty" age 94, a resident of Pasadena for 30 years, and formerly of Chillum, MD and Northeast Washington, DC, passed away on August 19, 2015 at his home.

Born on December 28, 1920, in Washington, DC, to the late Irene and Henry Gallagher, Sr., he attended Central High School before entering the US Army, serving as a Staff Sergeant in WWII from 1942 to 1946. He went on to work as a pricing manager for the Washington Drug Exchange, and later, volunteered his free time for Partners in Care and Meals on Wheels. A member of the Knights of Columbus, he was a lifelong Redskins, Senators, and Nationals fan. He was known to be everybody's friend, but what he loved most was spending time with his family.

Along with his parents, Henry is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years: Gertrude R. Gallagher; his son Andrew Gallagher; granddaughter Gina Chillemi; grandson Matt Gallagher; two sisters: Mary Morris and Elizabeth King; and two brothers: Bernard and Paul Gallagher.

He is survived by his two daughters: Connie Gallagher and her husband John Staley, of California, and Dianne Chillemi and her husband Joe, of Mount Airy; his two sons: Mark Gallagher and his wife Colleen, of Pasadena, and Brian Gallagher and his wife Lisa, of Bowie; his grandchildren Marc, Jeff and his wife Wendy, Tiffany and her husband Chris, Zac, Caitlin and her husband Tim, Bryce, Colin, Mike, and Kerry; and his great grandchildren Lexie, Lucas, Kyra, Kylan, Kacey, Logan, Lilly, and Brooks.

The family invites friends to visit at the Gregory J. Gonce Funeral Home, PA, 169 Riviera Drive on Sunday from 7 to 9 PM. The procession to St. Jane Frances Church will leave the funeral home at 10:30 AM on Monday, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM, with Monsignor Carl Cummings officiating. His burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery will be private. Those who wish may contribute to Partners in Care, 90 B Ritchie Hwy, Pasadena, 21122, or to Heartland Hospice, 4 East Rolling Crossroads, Suite 307, Catonsville, 21228, and feel free to express your condolences here as well.

I want you all to know my heart is saddened at Henry's passing. I say in all honesty that he was always my favorite uncle. How he and my husband, Ed, loved to verbally spar on the subject of politics - Henry a died-in-the-wool Democrat and Ed a died-in-the-wool-Republican. Wouldn't they have a time with the upcoming election!

Again, my condolences to all the family. He obviously loved you all so much.

sorry to hear of your fathers passing, I am sure after knowing you all these years that he was a good man and father as you are. I believe that death is nothing and they are merely on another plane , I speak to and call on my father as if he is merely in the next room when i need help or are just missing him .i take comfort from the thought of him watching me and smiling when i follow the right path. God bless you and your family and bring you peace and love.

We are very sorry for the sadness your family is experiencing at this time. When I was a teenager I was always excited when told that Aunt Trudy and Uncle Shorty were coming to Erie for a visit. Our families always had great times being together and many wonderful memories were created for all. I will always remember Uncle Shorty as a warm, wonderful person with a great humorous personality. He will be missed by all who knew him. God be with your family during this time of sorrow.

We are so sorry to have heard about the passing of Uncle Shorty. Steve has had wonderful memories of a genuinely kind man. Steve always enjoyed telling me stories of the time in the KofC summer bowling league with Uncle Shorty and Aunt Trudy. They have both occupied a space in his heart and are now together again.

May you take comfort in knowing an additional angel is in Heaven watching over you.

Take care & God bless everyone.
