Doris Lorraine Szuba, age 86, a resident of Riviera Beach for 60 years, and formerly of Brooklyn Park, passed on June 28, 2015 at her home after a six month illness.
She was born on October 7, 1928, in Baltimore, to the late Anna and Edward Johnson. After graduating from Glen Burnie High School, she married and became a homemaker and mom; raising six children. A member of the Poplar Ridge Senior Center, and the St. Jane Frances Sodality, she enjoyed bowling, travelling, crocheting, talking on the phone, eating pickles, and baking, especially her Pineapple Upside Down Cake.
Along with her parents, Doris is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years: Carl F. Szuba; and her loving son Robert.
She is survived by her two daughters: Barbara Fischer, of Massachusetts, and Rosemarie Collins, of Linthicum; three sons: Michael, of Pasadena, Carl, of Riviera Beach, and Francis, of Delaware; two sisters: Helen of Pennsylvania, and Gloria of Ferndale; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Family invites friends to visit at the Gregory J. Gonce Funeral Home, PA, 169 Riviera Drive, Pasadena, on Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. On Wednesday, her Funeral Liturgy Service will be celebrated at 2 PM in St. Athanasius Church. Her interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
