Talbert William Swift, Jr., age 82, a resident of Rockledge, Florida for five years, and formerly of Pasadena, died suddenly on November 24, 2013, at Wuesthoff Medical Center in Rockledge.

He was born on December 17, 1930, in Baltimore, to the late Ellen and Talbert W. Swift, Sr. After school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving our country from 1951 until 1953. For 30 years he worked for Potts & Callahan as a heavy equipment operator. A member of the American Legion Post 348 in Cocoa Beach, Florida, he enjoyed flying his ultralight airplane in years past, and was an avid fisherman, enjoyed crabbing, and of course, spending time with his family and friends.

Talbert is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years: Margaret E. Swift (nee Sipes); two sons: Talbert W. and his wife Joann, of Pasadena, and Michael and his wife Ann, of Rhodesdale; two daughters: Christine Mullen and her husband Mike, and Mary Hallikas and her husband Don, all of Pasadena; eight grandchildren: Billy, Sean, Mathew, Jordan, Donald, Nicole, Jimmy, and Michelle; and five great grandchildren: Maggie, Connor, Patrick, Shannon, and Damian.

Friends are invited to visit on Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM at the Gregory J. Gonce Funeral Home, PA, 169 Riviera Drive, Pasadena. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Athanasius Church on Tuesday at 10:30 AM, with entombment to follow in Glen Haven Memorial Park. Those who wish may contribute to St. Athanasius Church, and feel free to express your condolences here as well.
