Marie W. Taylor, age 84, a resident of Stewartstown, PA for two years, and formerly a longtime resident of Pasadena, died on September 26, 2013 at her daughter’s home after a long disability.

She was born on January 12, 1929, in Chance, Somerset County, MD, to the late Georgia and Clarence Willing. The valedictorian of her class, she graduated from Deal Island High School in 1946. While in school, she worked for a time picking crab claws at an eastern shore packing house, then went to work for the C&P telephone company. After leaving work to raise her family, she returned to work for Commercial Credit until her retirement. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles from the New York Times, collecting items from publishers clearing house, and cooking her famous eastern shore style oyster fritters.

Along with her parents, Marie is preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 20 years: Leon R. Taylor, Sr.; her son Leon R. Taylor, Jr.; longtime companion Bill Stecker; three sisters: Louise Price, Melva Smith, and Anna Bunn; and two brothers: William and Kenneth Willing.

She is survived by her daughter Barbara A. Peterson and her husband Ralph; two grandchildren: Michele McCleary and Kenneth Peterson; two great grandchildren: Shannon and Eion McCleary; and several nieces and nephews.

Family requests friends visit on Monday from 11 AM until 12:30 PM at the Gregory J. Gonce Funeral Home, PA, 169 Riviera Drive, Pasadena, with her funeral service to immediately follow at 12:30 PM. After the service, the funeral procession will leave for the committal service in Holy Cross Cemetery. Feel free to express your condolences here as well.
