David Edward Dunphy, 75, a resident of Pasadena for 24 years, and previously of Baltimore, died on July 19, 2013 at the Tate Hospice House after a one and a half year illness.
He was born on April 15, 1938, in Trenton, NJ, to the late Rose and Edward Dunphy. After graduating from St. Benedict’s Preparatory School in Newark, he attended Providence College in Rhode Island, and then Seton Hall in New Jersey. For 40 years he worked in sales and marketing of glass and plastic bottles; most recently for TIM Plastics in Northeast, MD. After retiring, he worked part time for Bedding Barn in Glen Burnie. He was a member of the Ancient Order of the Hibernians, St. Patrick Division 5, Baltimore; Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree Council #10966, Pasadena; and the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Assembly #2367, Severna Park. He enjoyed watching professional and college football and college basketball; going to live theatre; bluegrass music; and his cats.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years: Irene Hopkins; two brothers: D. Patrick Dunphy, of Castro Valley, CA, and Paul T. Dunphy, of San Diego, CA; two sisters: Christine A. White, of Towson, MD, and Mary, of California; six nephews, one niece, two great nephews, two great nieces, and several cousins.
Friends are invited to visit on Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM at the Gregory J. Gonce Funeral Home, PA, 169 Riviera Drive, Pasadena. The procession will leave the funeral home on Thursday at 10:30 AM to go to St. Jane Frances Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM. Interment will follow in New Cathedral Cemetery.
