Harold Richard Siegle, age 76, a resident of Mandeville, Louisiana, died on August 9, 2012, in Mandeville.

He was born on February 20, 1936, in Amsterdam, New York, to the late Luella and Fred Siegle. After attending Buchanan High School in upstate New York, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving for more than 21 years until June of 1974. He then worked as an administrator for the Department of Defense for another 20 years. He enjoyed gardening, but devoted most of his time caring for his beloved wife of 48 years, Liliana, who passed on June 15, 2012. He believed in the goodness of others: “Treat people nicely and they will be nice to you.”

He is survived by his daughter Rolanda Bostick and her husband Roy, of Mandeville, LA; three sons: Lawrence Siegle, of Portland, Oregon, Fred Siegle, of Baltimore, Gary Siegle and his wife Lisa, of San Antonio, TX; his grandchildren Roy “Tommy” Bostick, III, of Mandeville, LA, Benjamin, Jesse, and Daniel; his sister in law Maria Rolanda Hutchings, of Pasadena; his brother in law Mario Mastrojeni, of Gaithersburg, MD; nephew Richard Hutchings, Jr., of Pasadena; three nieces: Mary Calabrese, of Annapolis, Nina Flynn, of Pasadena, and Adriana Mastrojeni, of West Virginia; and a host of grandchildren and great nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 AM, with his entombment to follow in Glen Haven Memorial Park. Family requests friends visit on Wednesday morning from 10 to 11 AM. Those who wish may contribute to the Alzheimer’s Association, and you may express your condolences here as well.

Rolanda thank you for calling me after receiving my card when your Mom passed away. I was going to give you a call at the end of this week. Then on Sunday 12 Aug. Gary Siegle called me to inform me of the passing of your Dad. Thank you for contacting me.
I was fortunate to have met and worked with Harold. He was the person who received my application in 1990 at NWS Earle. I was hired and worked there for 17 years. I live in Toms River also and we would carpool to work at times. I enjoyed our conversations. He toured me of his gardens in his backyard. He was completely devoted to his wife, Liliana. In his obituary notice the quote "Treat people nicely and they will be nice to you" is so him. He did believe in the goodness of others. He was a fine man, he worked very hard and he was extremely kind. He will surely be missed.
I am dissappointed that I cannot attend his funeral services on Wed 15 August 2012 due to other committments. If it were Thursday 16 Aug. I would have been there. I will be keeping Harold, Liliana and your family in my prayers. Only 8 weeks apart, we lose two wonderful people in this world.
If there is anything I can do to assist while in the Toms River area, you can reach me at (732) 341-2004

Our thoughts and prayers are with Harold and Liliana's family during this time. We worked with Harold for many years at Naval Weapons Station Earle in NJ. Liliana always sent in so many goodies she prepared, including her homemade mincemeat pie during the holidays. May you find comfort in the memories they both gave you, and may it always bring a smile to your families.

Please accept our most heartfelt sympathies for your loss…our thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.

He was a wonderful man whose smile and personality were always a joy to see at the many events and family gatherings at the base.

May he rest in peace.
