Charles Vincent Alfinito, Sr., “Cheelay”, 73, a resident of Pasadena for 45 years, and formerly of Baltimore, died at home on October 31, 2011 after a 17 month illness.

He was born January 9, 1938, in Baltimore, and joined the US Army after high school, serving from 1955 to 1959. He then joined the Baltimore City Police Department, serving as a motorcycle officer until 1979, then worked for Baltimore Gas and Electric until 2002. He remained active with the Fraternal Order of Police, Baltimore City Lodge #3, and enjoyed cooking, motorcycles, and coaching.

He is predeceased by his parents: Rosie Addis and John Edward Smith; and his brother Joseph Alfinito.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years: Dorothy L. Alfinito; three daughters: Sharon DeVault, Deborah Malick, and Teresa Warrington; his son Charles Alfinito, Jr., all of Pasadena; his brother Jerome Alfinito of Brooklyn Park, and 10 grandchildren.

Visitation for Charles will take place on Thursday from 3 to 5 PM and again from 7 to 9 PM. His Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 AM on Friday at St. Jane Frances Church. Interment will follow in Meadowridge Memorial Park. Those who wish may contribute to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org.
