Frederick George Hyde, Sr., age 76, a resident of the Pasadena area for 45 years, died on February 11, 2013 at his son’s home in Pennsylvania of natural causes after a thirteen year illness.
He was born on February 2, 1937, in Baltimore, to the late Dorothy and George Hyde. After graduating from Glen Burnie High School, he continued his education in the US Coast Guard, serving from 1956 until 1962. After the service, he worked as a firefighter for the Baltimore City Fire Department for 34 years. A member of the American Legion and the Riviera Beach Volunteer Fire Company, his chief passions were the fire department and the Baltimore Ravens.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Frederick George Hyde, Jr.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years: Lillian B. Hyde; his son Kenneth Hyde; his daughter Cheryl Barnett and her husband Mike; three grandsons: Kenneth Hyde, Jr. and his wife Kelly, James McCartin, III and his wife Kaitlin, and Brady McCartin; four granddaughters: Kelly McCartin and her husband Patrick Mooney, Stephanie McCullough and her husband Nick, Sarah Hyde and her husband Jonathan Atkinson, and Kendra Lillian Hyde; three step grandchildren: Chris, Amy, and Alex Barnett; and six great grandchildren: Ryleigh, Logan, Landon, Brian, Sophia, and Gavin.
Funeral services will be held at the Gregory J. Gonce Funeral Home, PA, 169 Riviera Drive, Pasadena, on Friday at 11:30 AM. His family invites friends to visit from 7 to 9 PM Wednesday and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Feel free to express your condolences here as well.
