Susan was a teacher to all three of my son''s. She touched the life of all the children she taught. She was one of the best teachers my children had. I just saw her at the end of the school year this past year, and I had my grandson with me. He is the son of my oldest Scott Tatum, she was so tickled to see him. She told me a how much she enjoyed having my children in her class and she remembered all three of their names. She will be missed by all. She is one of the only people who had a smile on her face at all times. May God Bless her and may he bless you as you go through this time of sorrow.

Miss Provance was my teacher during the 1975-76 school year. She was then my son''s teacher 1997-98, and my younger daughter''s teacher 2009-2010. She was a positive influence on my family as well as countless others. She will be greatly missed by all. Thank you Miss Provance--you were and always will be loved by all who knew you.
With Love,
Cynthia McIntosh and family

Susan was such a great teacher with spunk and smiles. She was a role model as I began teaching and truly made living the single life look doable! She was a joy to know and will be dearly missed.

Susan was a classmate of mine (''''68). She was submerged in her cocoon for most of her childhood then emerged into a beautiful butterfly. She was truly a remarkable woman who endured much and gave much to others. Her wit and humor were boundless. She will be missed by many. God bless you Susan.

We are heartbroken for the loss of such a kind, loving and gentle woman. Susan brought a big ray of sunshine wherever she went, and I can''t picture her without smiling, because that is how she made us all feel. The affection she showered on our family will always be remembered, and I consider it a gift to have known her. Our love and prayers to Kyle, Sarah and Bart, Marcus and Rosalyn, and the many students, teachers and friends she touched as well as her new found family in Iceland. Bless you.

I taught with Susan from 1974 until I retired in 2003 and came to know her more closely as I closed out my career in kindergarten with her. She loved her "kiddies" and I learned much from Susan. She poured her soul into whatever she was a part of. Our community has suffered a great loss. We will miss you, friend.

It''s hard to face the fact that there will be no more Miss Provance, the beloved kindergarten teacher, but there will also be "no more Maude." The other characters that Susan brought to life in her second career as an actress and comedian are also gone, but Susan''s legacy will live on in the minds and hearts of those who knew her.

I met Susan for the first time on May 7th, 2011, and I''m only sorry that I did not have the opportunity to meet her sooner. She appeared at our Alumni Banquet at Galt, MO, in full costume, and did a roast on some of the attendees. She was hilarious and the highlight of the evening. Yes, she picked on me and after her performance...walked right over to me and said: "I have to give you a hug"! It was at that "moment" that I realized that there is no barrier in life...you can "know someone" in an instant! She touched my heart and I felt like we''d known each other for a very long time. What a wonderful legacy she leaves behind...having been the guiding influence on so many young minds and lives. Blessings to you, Susan, and to your entire family and thanks for the "gift" of having met you "once" during this lifetime!

Susan was called away all too soon. As part of the class of 1968, we miss her greatly. Her strength, her love of life, music, and acting, touched us all. We loved the roast presented to our class. It kept us in stitches. What a great talent!

Hugs to all relatives, friends, and classmates from across the miles in California.

I am honored, privileged, personally benefitted and proud to have been a friend and classmate of Susan. Only last summer many from our class gathered in Trenton to celebrate our 60th birthdays. I called upon Susan to appear as that little old lady, who only a year or so before had stepped on board and interrupted a Labor Day tour bus of THS alumni, to come forward at our birthday party to roast some members of our gathered class. Susan graciously accepted. From the book of her life that in high school had a cover of shyness and reserve, came subsequent chapters of a robust and engaging individual with a personality to match as a Trenton teacher, resident and theater performer. Susan roasted us all right. She had us laughing so hard we had tears in our eyes. It is just not going to be quite the same without Susan at our next reunion. The entire class of 1968 is going to miss her.
