Hortense Urton a 97 year old Trenton, MO resident, passed away at 3:01 a.m., Monday, July 09, 2018 at Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton.  Burial will follow in South Evans Cemetery North of Trenton.  A visitation is scheduled from 10:00 until service time Thursday.  Open visitation will begin Wednesday morning at the mortuary.  Memorial donations are suggested to either the South Evans Cemetery or the Animal Shelter and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
Hortense Romaine Urton was born March 11, 1921 in Tindall, MO to Harry and Clara (Hostettler) Crawford.  On May 21, 1941 she was united in marriage to Franklin Urton in Trenton.  He preceded her in death on January 10, 1990.  Hortense lived all of her life in Grundy County.  For many years she taught school at Starlight School which was a one room country school north of Trenton.  She was a meticulous gardener worked in the yard up until she was 96.  She also loved cats and took care of dozens.  When able to relax she enjoyed listening to country music, especially Connie Smith, Porter Wagner and Tammy Wynette.
Surviving relatives include her niece’s and nephews; Sondra Lisle of Trenton, Larry Urton of Trenton, Sharon Moberly of Kansas City, MO, Connie Kelsey of Trenton, Jerry Urton of Jamesport, MO and Jimmy Urton of Arkansas, and her cat Casey of the home.  Those preceding her in death include her parents, husband and a sister Imogene Brassfield.
