Marjorie A. “Marge” Scott, 73, of St. Louis, MO died at 12:25 p.m., Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Granite City Nursing and Rehab Center in Granite City, IL.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Payne Funeral Home in Galt, MO. Inurnment will be at Campground Cemetery near Osgood. Memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society of the donor’s choice.
Marjorie was born June 19, 1937 in Humphreys, MO to James Edward and Mary Ellen (Pierce) Smiley. She married Rev. Dale Scott on June 15, 1958. He preceded her in death on January 24, 1996. Her parents and a brother J.T. Smiley also preceded her in death.
She graduated from Mineral Are College in 1982 with an Associate of Arts Degree. She worked both privately and corporately in accounting and preparing income tax returns since 1969. Most recently, she worked at H.R. Block in St. Louis.
Mrs. Scott is survived by a daughter, Melanie Shipp of St. Louis, MO, a son Mark (Andrea) Scott of Eureka, IL, three grandchildren, Brianna Shipp, Alyssa and Derek Scott and one great granddaughter, Cianna. Also surviving are her sister Ellen Marie Smiley, Milan, MO, sister, Lillian (Ron) Ruff, Independence, MO, brothers Charles (Johnna) Smiley and Bob Smiley both of Galt, MO.
