Franklin Bosley died shortly before noon at Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, MO on Thursday, January 20, 2011 where he had been temporarily residing with his twin brother, Frederick, the past few months. Franklin was born Lance Franklin Bosley, on November 19, 1926, the son of Paris Franklin and Viola Frances Lance Bosley, in Grundy County on the family farm in the home where he still maintained his permanent residence at the time of his death at 296 SW 8th St. in rural Trenton.
Funeral services are to be held at the Trenton First Christian Church, Sunday, January 23, 2011 at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. Paul Frasier officiating. A reception will be held in the church fellowship hall after the service. A gravesite blessing and military rites are to be scheduled at Maple Grove Cemetery in the spring. Open visitation will begin Friday evening at Whitaker Eads Funeral Home in Trenton. Memorial donations are suggested to the First Christian Church HVAC Fund.
Franklin attended Trenton High School, graduating in 1944 and attended Trenton Junior College. Franklin entered the United States Army with his brother Frederick and both served in the Georgia Basin in France at the end of WWII. After the war, Franklin worked for 23 years at the Jones Store Company in downtown Kansas City where he retired as an accessories buyer for several Jones Store Company stores.
Franklin joined the Trenton First Christian Church on April 13, 1941 and has served with his brother as Elder on the Diaconate, board member, Wills & Bequest committee and was a charter member of the Ninety and Nine Sunday School Class and later the current 50/50 class.
Besides his church affiliation, Franklin served for many years on the Maple Grove Cemetery Board and the Grundy County Republican Central Committee where he served as Vice-Chairman. This past year, Franklin and his brother were honored by North Central Missouri College as outstanding Alumni at the most recent NCMC Gala last fall
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Frances Lee, a sister Muriel, and his Uncle Rollie and aunt Nellie Bosley. He is survived by his brother Frederick of the home, a niece Dorothy O’dell of Phoenix, AZ and great nieces and nephews along with various cousins.
