Music by The Piano Brothers

Byron Philips Grisamore of rural Galt, MO, born November 18, 1922 in Davies County to Jennings Edward Grisamore and Hazel Claudia Philips Grisamore, left this Earth on November 15, 2016, just three days before his 94th birthday.
Byron and his family including two siblings, Charlene and Melvin who both preceded him in death, moved to Redland, California during the Great Depression and Dust Bowl to find work. He earned his high school degree after a prominent football career as tackle rewarded by being named to the All-State Team of 1941. He then attended Redlands College in Redland, California earning an Associate’s Degree in General Studies. He and his family returned to the family farm north of Galt in 1943 where he resided until his death.
Marjorie Helen Brassfield soon captured Byron’s heart and they were married on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1948 in a ceremony at Honey Creek Chapel followed a few hours later by a similar ceremony for Marjorie’s brother J. A. Brassfield and Sue Reed. Byron’s death came 10 days prior to his 68th wedding anniversary.
Byron and his wife jointly farmed until his death. Other than his family, the farm, the maintenance of its soil, and his Angus cattle were the focus of his entire life.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge 423 AF & AM in Galt, MO where he served as Master before transferring to the Trenton Lodge 111 AF & AM. He was a Mason for more than 68 years. Byron was a practicing Christian his entire life and served both the Half Rock Christian Church and the Galt Christian Church. He was a charter member of the Galt Lions Club and served the club for over 50 years. The Grundy Electric Board of Directors benefited from his service for many years as did the Soil and Water Conservation District. He also served as a 4-H leader.
Byron is survived by wife Marjorie of the home; two sons, Philip (Donna) and Stephen (Michelle) of Trenton and rural Galt consecutively; four grandchildren, Andrea Bush (Jason), John Grisamore (Christine), Joe Grisamore (Laura), and Katie Whaley (Kevin); and 5 great grandchildren, Zak, Kohl, Easton, Jackson, and Grace.
A celebration of Byron’s life will consist of a visitation at the Galt Christian Church on Friday, November 18, 2016 from 5-7 pm, a Funeral Service at the Galt Christian Church on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Edinburg, Missouri.  There will be an open visitation from 9:00 a.m. until 2:30, Friday at Whitaker Eads Funeral Home in Trenton.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Galt Lions Club or the IOOF Cemetery in Edinburg, MO via the Whitaker Eads Funeral Home, Trenton, MO.
