Elaine Whitt, an 82-year-old resident of Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, MO, died at 4:30 AM, February 20, 2016 at the nursing home, where she had resided since May 18, 2013.  

Deloris Elaine Whitt was born November 21, 1933, in Brimson, MO, a daughter of William Oren and Elma Roberta Pollard Whitt.  Ms. Whitt attended Trenton High School and was in the class of 1951. She retired after many years of employment from Trenton Foods in November 1998.  After retirement Elaine became interested in genealogy and did extensive research on many of her ancestral names including: the Whitts, Pollards, Waldens, Stills, Coles, Meeks and numerous others.  She enjoyed socializing with her many friends, many from her high school of 1951, and being an active member of the Grundy Center United Methodist Church.

Ms. Whitt was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Waymon LaVern Whitt.  She is survived by two sons: Bruce Wayne Crawford and Robert Gail Crawford both of St. Joseph, MO; a daughter Connie Elaine Crawford Hunter of Osborn, MO; 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; a brother William Ronald Whitt of Kansas City, MO; two nieces, Allison Whitt Leftwich of Arlington, VA and Suzanne Whitt of Kansas City, MO.  

A memorial service is planned for 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at the Whitaker Eads Funeral Home, Trenton, MO.  A visitation will be held from 9:30 until service time Tuesday.  There will be a private inurnment at Salem Cemetery north of Trenton at a later date.  The family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer’s Fund in lieu of flowers. Gifts in memory of Elaine Whitt may be left with or mailed to the funeral home at 813 Custer, Trenton, MO 64683.
