Mrs. Boehner was born on October 15, 1917 at the family farm near Chillicothe, MO the eldest daughter of Howard M. and Mabel Young McCarthy.  She graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1935, attended Maryville Teachers College, and passed the state teachers’ exam.  Between 1935 and 1942, she taught in several one-room schools in rural Livingston County.
