Hubert Scott, an 89 year old resident of rural Milan, MO passed away at the Sullivan County Milan Hospital Monday, September 20, 2010 at 7:49 a.m.  

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at the Milan United Methodist Church in Milan, MO. A scheduled family visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church. General visitation will begin after noon Wednesday at the Payne Funeral Home in Galt, MO. Memorial contributions have been suggested in lieu of flowers to be given to the Sullivan County Memorial Hospital in Milan. Burial will follow in the Campground Cemetery located southwest of Osgood, MO.

Mr. Scott was born near Osgood, MO the son of Raleigh and Mildred Chevurant Scott on April 19, 1921. A lifelong resident of Sullivan County he graduated from Milan High School in 1939. He was married to Garnett Carver on April 23, 1940 at New Cambria, MO. He was a cattle, crop and dairy farmer and C.E.O. of the S Bar Ranch. He also co-owned the Safeway Finance Company and the Scott and Sears Car Lot and Body Shop both former Milan Businesses. He also enjoyed growing fruit and vegetables in his garden and sharing produce with all.

He was a member of the Milan United Methodist Church, the President of the Campground Cemetery Association and a former member of the American Dairy Association and a past President of the local D.H.I.A.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Garnett of the home, two sons, Larry and Donnie Scott; a daughter Carolyn Schnelle and her husband, Duane all of Milan, MO; 4 grandchildren, Trudy Riedl, Mike Scott, Scott Schnelle and Heather (Brandon) Weiss; 7 great-grandchildren, Andrea Riedl, Whitley Schnelle, Dakota Scott, Shalee Scott, Tyler Deepe, Lainee Weiss and Owen Weiss and by several cousins.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Case D. Schnelle.
