Larry Eugene Whitt, a 68-year-old Trenton resident, died at his home on Saturday afternoon, April 20, 2013 from an apparent heart attack.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton. Rev. Ron Ratliff will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.
A scheduled visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at the mortuary.
Mr. Whitt was born on Feb. 27, 1945 in St. Louis, the son of Edgar and Elizabeth Kennedy Whitt. He worked various jobs during his life, but mainly the Rock Island Railroad and Trenton Foods.
He was married to Sharon Andersen on Dec. 28, 1978 in Trenton. He liked to hunt, fish, travel, cook and listening to music, gospel being his favorite. He loved his family and his God. He was a member of the Tenth Street Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Whitt of the home; a son, Nevin Whitt of Independence; a daughter, Cherri Whitt-Baldwin and her husband, Scott of Blue Springs; his mother, Elizabeth VonTalge of Afton; three brothers, Ruben VonTalge and his wife, Pam of Arnold, Richard VonTalge and his wife, Kathy of DeBary, FL and Ron VonTalge and his wife, Lorna of St Jacob, IL; two sisters, Peggy Weber of St. Louis and Sharon Holdenreid and her husband, Jim of St. Louis; three grandchildren, Anthony Baldwin, Nathan Baldwin and Ethan Baldwin; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Loran “Butch” Whitt.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Tenth Street Baptist Church, the American Heart Association, or the American Diabetes Association. They can be left at or mailed to Resthaven Mortuary, 813 Custer, Trenton, MO 64683.
