Mrs. Annis Smith, an 81 year old resident of Trenton, MO, passed away at 8:22 AM Monday, December 3, 2012 at her residence while under hospice care.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 7, 2012 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. A family visitation will be held from 7 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Resthaven. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Smith was born on December 14, 1930 in Humphreys, MO, the daughter of Freddie Leon and Edith Elizabeth (Almond) Whitaker. She graduated from Trenton High School in 1948. She was married to William Byron Smith on August 21, 1949 in Galt, MO; he preceded her in death on April 18, 2010. They lived in the Kansas City, KS area until 1955 when they purchased a farm northeast of Trenton. She enjoyed her family, quilting, and flowers. She was a member of the Honey Creek Chapel Christian Church for 67 years.

Mrs. Smith is survived by two daughters, Debra and Frank Cassity of Chillicothe, MO and Venita and Alan Klover of Sedalia, MO; two sisters, Louise Jobe of Trenton, MO and Kathy Kidd of Laredo, MO; 4 grandchildren, Alex Klover, Kevin Klover, Jason Cassity and his wife, Laura, and Jordan Cassity and his wife, Bernadette; 5 great-grandchildren, Keith and Faith Cassity, Elena, Julian and Gabriella Cassity.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Shirley Whitaker and Jerry Whitaker; and a sister, Phyllis Leeper.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St Jude's Children Hospital; they can be left at or mailed to Resthaven Mortuary, P.O. Box 587, Trenton, MO 64683.
