Mildred Whitford, a 94 year old resident of the Baptist Home in Chillicothe, MO passed away at 12:57 p.m., Wednesday, March 14, 2012.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 19, 2012 at Resthaven Mortuary in Trenton, MO.  Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens of Trenton.  A visitation is scheduled from 1 until service time Monday.  Open visitation will begin at noon Sunday at the funeral home.  Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Building Fund and left with the funeral home.

Mildred Sophia Whitford was born July 3, 1917 in Marion County, KS, the daughter of Carl Julius and Vera H. (Overstreet) Swanson.  She was married to Albert Lee Whitford January 18, 1941 at Cottonwood Falls Kansas.  Mildred was a homemaker and did volunteer missions work.  She taught girls Sunday school class for 13 years at Bethel, KS.  She and her family always had family devotions together, always attending Sunday School and church together as well as going to city union mission in downtown Kansas City, KS with the church group once a month.  They also enjoyed going to nursing homes where the children would sing as a trio.  She was a member of the Trenton First Baptist Church.

Surviving relatives include her son Jerald Lee and his wife Lanette Whitford of Warrensburg, MO, two daughters Judy and her husband Victor Gender of Humphreys, MO and Jean and her husband Henry Homann of Casper, WY and a sister Lela Brelsford of Tucson, AZ, three grandchildren, Jeffrey Whitford, Sandra Hourt and Michael Homann, three great-grandchildren, Jacob Hourt, James Hourt, and Nicole Homann, a great-great grandchild, as well as a cousin, and nieces and nephews.

Those preceding her in death include her parents, husband eight brothers and five sisters.
