Gerald “Jerry” Sprout, an 80 year old former Galt resident, passed away at 1:50 a.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at the Life Care Center in Brookfield, MO.
The body was cremated. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at the Galt Christian Church. Rev. Stan Richardson will officiate. There is no visitation planned. Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home of Trenton is in handling arrangements.
Mr. Sprout was born on September 8, 1930 in Edinburg, MO the son of Gerald and LaVonne Robertson Sprout. He was married to Beverly Smith on December 31, 1949 in Bettendorf, IA, she preceded him in death on January 9, 2007. He worked for Alcoa Aluminum in Bettendorf for 19 years.
Mr. Sprout is survived by 5 sons, Larry Sprout, Gary Sprout, Rodney Sprout, and Harland Sprout all of Davenport, IA, and Jeff Sprout of Springfield, MO; 2 brothers, Ron Sprout of Trenton, MO and Roy Sprout of Mccausland, IA; 14 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a son, Jimmy Sprout; a grandson, Stephen Sprout; a brother, Wilbur Sprout; and a sister, Mary Ann Gott.
