Robert Lewis Lynch an 86 year old resident of Trenton passed away at 12:02 a.m., Monday, October 20, 2014 at Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Honey Creek Chapel Christian Church northeast of Trenton. Burial will follow in the Honey Creek Cemetery. Open visitation will begin 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday and a scheduled family visitation will be held from 6 until 8 Tuesday evening at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton.
Lewis Lynch the son of Arthur Porter and Edith May (Hopkins) Lynch was born April 28, 1928 Southwest of Spickard, MO on the Cliff Brewer Farm. Lewis attended rural Newton, Salem, Terry George and Starlight Elementary Schools. He graduated from Galt, MO High School in 1946 the Salutatorian of his class. He farmed with his father until 1950 and entered the United States Army in October of that year. He served at Fort Pickett, VA and Augsburg, Germany. On November 2, 1952, only two weeks after returning home he married the love of his life Amy "Inis"Rowoth at Honey Creek Chapel Christian Church. Lewis and Inis made their early home east of Four Corners northeast of Trenton and moved to the Grundy Center Community in February 1960.
Lewis farmed and worked in the Trenton community throughout his life. Dairy farming, shearing sheep, custom bailing and raising livestock were a few of the many aspects of his farming career. While farming full time, Lewis worked for several businesses including Pollock Vault Company, Hudson Radio and TV, Gardner & Skinner, Eaton Appliance, and Trenton Foods where he retired in 1993. After his retirement, Lewis and Inis lived on their farm in rural Trenton until December 2007.
At the age of 16, Lewis accepted Christ as his Savior. He faithfully served the Lord as a member and elder of the Honey Creek Chapel Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post 31, Local 194, and a former member of the Pleasant View R-6 school Board.
Lewis is survived by his wife, Inis of Trenton; 4 children, Randall Lynch (Brenda) of Union Star, Rhonda Brown (Steve) of Alexandria, VA, Beverly Speck (Gary) and Lynda Snuffer (Ron) both of Trenton, 2 sisters, Edith Mae Schuster of Carpentersville, IL, Mary Louise “Tootie” Hamilton of Tindall, one brother, D.G. Lynch of Trenton, 11 grandchildren, Sarah Lynch Morris (Wayne) , Ryan Lynch (Jo Anne) , Amy Brown Fouse (Steven) , Alpha Brown Henry (Dallas) , Ashley Brown, Aubry Brown Kruse (Kelin) , Bryan Speck (Sarah) , Adam Snuffer (Sacha) , Autumn Snuffer, Bailey Snuffer, and Aaron Snuffer; 15 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Gerald Clifton Lynch, William Preston Lynch, and Arthur Willis Lynch, and two infant siblings Dorothy Ruth Lynch and a brother.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Honey Creek Chapel Christian Church or the Honey Creek Chapel Cemetery Association.
