Lois Nadine Axtell was born into this world on April 4th, 1917, the youngest child of Charles D and Edith Agey Pettit in Myers Township in rural Grundy County. She had 4 siblings, Roy Pettit, Lucille McCulley, Iona Hatfield and Irene Gibson, all whom preceded her in death.  She attended Burkholder, a one room school house till the 8th grade.  On Feb. 20, 1937, she married her husband, Kenneth Harold Axtell and together they raised 6 children; Charles (Doris) of Trenton, Peggy Sims (Kenny) of Trenton, Jack (Karen) of Chubbuck, Idaho, Bob (Patty) of Trenton, Jim (Iola) of Emma, Mo and Bill (Mary) of Trenton.  Lois and Kenneth lived and raised their family on a farm on Route NN in rural Grundy County until they retired in 1975.  Lois sold Avon and worked in Trenton at the Kress 'Five and Dime' Store until they retired off the farm and moved to Trenton in 1975.  They lived on Cedar Street until 1976 and then moved to Normal Street where Kenneth lived out the rest of his life.  Lois sold the house and moved into a condo in 2009 and remained there until she had to have assistance and moved into the Eastview nursing home.  She had just transferred to the Sunnyview nursing home a week and a half before she peacefully went home to heaven at 12:20 pm on Jan. 28th, 2014.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Kenneth Harold Axtell, who passed away on Feb. 14, 1991, one daughter-in-law, Joyce Berry Axtell and one-son in-law, Kenneth Sims.
She is survived by all of her children, 19 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and two sister-in-laws, Ruby Axtell Walker, of Lee Summit and Kathryn Axtell Hammond, of Des Moines, Iowa.
