Lyle Wilson Kirk a 72 year old resident of Trenton, MO, Died November 21, 2011 at his home where he was under hospice care.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at the Edinburg Baptist Church in Edinburg, MO. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens of Trenton. A visitation will be held from 7 to 8 Tuesday evening at Resthaven Mortuary.
Mr. Kirk was born on January 18, 1939 in the family home in the forks of the river in Grundy County. He was the son of Harry Thomas and Golda May Griffith Kirk. He graduated from Trenton High School in 1957 and attended College of Commerce in Pueblo, Texas. Mr. Kirk married Johann Goodman on December 7, 1957. He was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad as a telegrapher. He then was employed as a credit manager assistant in Kansas City. The family went back to Trenton where he was employed at Trenton Foods as a supervisor until retirement. Mr. Kirk also owned a grade A Dairy.
He was a Children’s Church Director at Edinburg Baptist Church as well as a deacon within the church. Lyle was also a coach with the DAWGS which is “Disabled Athletes with Grundy Support”. He enjoyed his flowers, playing piano at nursing homes, and spending time with family.
He is survived by his wife, Johann Kirk of the home, his sons Kevin Kirk and his wife Patti of Laredo, MO and Stephen Kirk and his wife Joyce of Chula, MO, a daughter Linda Kirk of Chillicothe, MO, a brother Tom Kirk and his wife Barb of Independence, MO, a sister-in-law Jo Kirk of Trenton, nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Gene Kirk and a son Stanley Lyle Kirk.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Edinburg Children’s Church or the DAWGS and may be left with the funeral home.
