Ruzanski, Pauline A., (Carrazza) of Hyde Park, MA, died December 19. She was 88 years old. Mrs. Ruzanski was born Padovanna Antoinette Carrazza on December 20, 1923, to Nicholas and Theresa Carrazza in Roxbury, MA. She grew up on Thornton Street and lived there for many years with her husband Frederick as they raised their family in the 40’ & 50’s. They moved to Hyde Park in 1955 in order to nurture and educate their growing family.
Mrs. Ruzanski was best known in the community of Hyde Park and will best be remembered for her generosity of spirit, creativity, compassion and her tremendous sense of humor. She dedicated her life to raising her seven daughters and three sons. She had a remarkable mother’s intuition that included knowledge and empathy for every phase of a young person’s life. Her big red house on the hill was always open to young minds and hearts and many a long night was spent offering her wisdom and guidance to her children and their friends.
Work outside the home began for Mrs. Ruzanski at the age of 50 when her youngest started elementary school. She had the privilege to be employed by the Commonwealth of Mass. Department of Mental Health and managed a high quality second hand shop in Cleary Sq. called The Front Door Boutique, which was part of the Crossroads Rehabilitation Center. This life outside of her home allowed Pauline to use her many talents and skills in assisting and training the homeless, the helpless and the depressed in the Hyde Park community. Retirement did not slow down this energetic and vital woman. She continued her dedication to the community by volunteering at the Hyde Park branch library and the Shattuck Hospital in Jamaica Plain. Her later years were spent living independently in the place she called home participating in and enjoying the comings and goings of all her precious kids and their families.
Mrs. Ruzanski is survived by her ten children; Jane Ruzanski of Boston, Linda Fairbanks of Portsmouth, NH, Arlene Szado of Chatham, MA, Frederick Ruzanski of Ipswich MA, Elizabeth Rozan of Lexington, MA, Stephen Solarazza of Martha’s Vineyard, MA, Christine Colletti of Nantucket, MA, Barbara McCulloch of Mansfield, MA, Robert Ruzanski of Norfolk, MA, and Mary Rezendes of South Easton, MA, as well as a lineage of 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Her loving husband, Frederick Ruzanski, passed away in 1992.

Steve and Emily and Siana and Bowen and all of Stevie's family. Linda and I send you lots of love and prayers. I am still a bit stunned about the news. I still remember her at your wedding, like it was yesterday. Her smile, her joy, her love for all that was happening that day, and we told each other we had to have one dance. She was so alive, her spirit so contagious. We celebrate her. Love to everyone, Gerald and Linda.

I just heard about your mom passing this morning. I am so very very sorry. She was a very warm, loving memory for me. The times she would get up at 2 in the morning as Barbara & I stumbled around your kitchen trying to make ourselves scrambled eggs. She would come down, talk with us with no anger over how we just woke her up. Again, I am sad to hear of her passing and my deepest sympathy to all of you.
