Don A. Schulthess

Don A. Schulthess, age 84, of 5055 N 290 W, Howe, Indiana, died Wednesday August 6, 2008 at 4:30 A.M. at his home.
He was born on August 11, 1923 in Garrett, Indiana to Albert & Esther (Ladd) Schulthess.  He married Edna Fike on June 8, 1946 in Garrett, Indiana.  She preceeded him in death in 1995.
He was a veteran of the Army.  He was a Flight Officer for the 2530th AAF Base unit during WWII.  Don retired in 1983 after 40 years of service for Conrail at Penn Central Station in Ft. Wayne, Indiana where he was employed as a conductor.  After retiring in 1983, Don and Edna moved to LaGrange, Indiana.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #215 in LaGrange, Indiana, A member of the veterans WWII 8th Airforce Brigade, the Eagles in Garrett, Indiana where he was a Golden Eagle, and the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in LaGrange, Indiana.
He is survived by 3 daughters - Linda Gradeless of Garrett, Indiana, Donna Longardner of Garrett, Indiana and Tammy Jo Schulthess of San Jose, California. 1 Sister - Ruth Tarlton of Kendallville, Indiana. 3 Grandsons - Tim Stafford, Rickey Stafford and Jeff Smith. 2 Granddaughters - Ginger Long and Amy Long. 1 Great-Grandchild - Hailey Smith.
He was preceeded in death by his Parents, Wife, 2 Brothers - Norbert & Earl Schulthess. 1 Grandson - Dennis Stafford.
Visitation will be Friday August 8, 2008 from 4-8 P.M. at the Funeral Home.  The Funeral Service will be Saturday, August 9, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at the Funeral Home with Pastor Sandra Hutchens of the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in LaGrange, Indiana officiating.  Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Howe, Indiana with Military Rites performed by the American Legion Post #215.
