LaGrange - Josephine Eling, 89, of LaGrange died at 2:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb.23, 2008, at Miller's Merry Manor in LaGrange. Mrs. Eling was homemaker. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in LaGrange where she was involved in the Ladies Circle. Mrs. Eling enjoyed gardening, sewing and embroidery work.

She was born May 24, 1918, in Lucas, Michigan., to Myne R. and Elizabeth (Veltama) Meekhof. She married Howard Eling on May 12, 1937 in Missaukee County, Michigan. He died April 24, 1987.

Surviving are two sons, Myron Eling and his wife, Roslyn, of Albion and Hilman Eling and his fiancee, Bess Priddy, of Centerville, Michigan.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Robert and Lillian Deboer of Lake City, Michigan and Al and Myra Vandermolen of Grandville, Michigan.; a brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Gazina Meekhof of Grandville, Michigan.; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Francis Meekhof of East Lansing, Michigan.; five grandchildren; nineteen great-granchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceeded in death by a grandson, Eric Eling in 1987; three sisters, Jeanette Nelson, Marie Schaaf and Anne Fuller; two brothers, Russell Meekhof and Corneilus Meekhof; and a daughter-in-law, Lois "Dolly" Eling.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in LaGrange with Pastor Chris Danielson officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in LaGrange.
