Max J. McDonald, age 83, of LaGrange died Thursday September 15, 2011 at Life Care Center, LaGrange, IN.  He was born on December 17, 1927 in Sherwood Village, MI to Gilbert & Florence (Kimes) McDonald.  He married Barbara Combs in July 1964 in LaGrange, IN.  She preceded him in death on November 23, 2010.  Max was a veteran of the United States Army where he served from 1946 to 1948.  He was retired from the Indiana Toll Road in the maintenance department.  He also worked as a Library Custodian until his retirement.  He enjoyed Fishing and going to the Shipshewana Auction.  He is survived by; 3 sons - Gary & Gloria McDonald of Rome City, IN.  Michael & Deb McDonald of Shipshewana, IN.  Terry & Judy McDonald of Kendallville, IN.  1 daughter - Kay Wilkinson of LaGrange, IN.  1 brother - Charles & Margaret McDonald of LaGrange, IN.  8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and 1 grandson Timothy Dinkins.  Visitation will be held on Sunday September 18, 2011 from 3 to 7 P.M. at Carney-Frost Funeral Home, LaGrange, IN and from 1 to 2 P.M. on Monday prior to the funeral service.  The funeral service will be on Monday September 19, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. with the Pastor Richard Secor of Cross Point Family Church, Kendallville, IN.  Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery with military rites performed by the American Legion Post #215, LaGrange, IN.  Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer or the Diabetes Association.
