Donald F. Helmkamp, age 87, of LaGrange, IN died Sunday June 5, 2011 at 5:50 a.m. at Parkview LaGrange Hospital, LaGrange, IN.  He was born on February 14, 1924 in Cloverdale, OH to Ben "Bernard" & Hilda (Kolhoff) Helmkamp.  He married Ellen (Kreienbrink) on February 23, 1946 in Kendallville, IN.  She survives in LaGrange.  Don and Ellen moved from Avilla, IN to LaGrange in 1962.  They owned and operated LaGrange County Dodge in LaGrange until his passing.  Prior to moving to LaGrange, Don was a farmer and milk hauler.  He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in LaGrange and the Knights of Columbus.  Don was active in St Josephs Parish during the building of the current church facility.    He is survived by his wife, 4 sons - Thomas & Karen Helmkamp of LaGrange, IN, Michael & Dee Helmkamp of Howe, IN, Al & Kitty Helmkamp of LaGrange, IN and Ed & Mary Kay Helmkamp of Wolcottville, IN.  2 daughters - Ginny & Wes Hull  of Sparks, NV and Lisa Helmkamp of Howe, IN.  3 brothers - Gerald Helmkamp of Venice, FL, Richard Helmkamp of Auburn, IN, Paul Helmkamp of Fort Wayne, IN.  2 sisters - Mary Ley of Avilla, IN and Joann Alfeld of Fort Wayne, IN.  IN.  9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers - Bob and Jim Helmkamp.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday June 8, 2011 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Carney-Frost Funeral Home, LaGrange, IN.  A rosary service will be held immediately following visitation at 8 p.m.  The funeral service will be held on Thursday June 9, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the St Joseph Catholic Church, LaGrange, IN with the Father Andy Martinez officiating.  Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, LaGrange, IN.  Memorials may be given to the Knights of Columbus Scholarship Fund.  Arrangements are by Carney-Frost Funeral Home, LaGrange, IN.
