Charles D. VanMeter, 97, of Marengo, Indiana died on September 24, 2017 at Harrison Healthcare- Corydon.  He was born on February 24, 1920 in Marengo, Indiana to the late Wallace and Mollie Scott VanMeter.

 

He was former owner and operator of the Van’s Restaurant in Marengo, IN.  He was an Army Veteran having served during WWII and a member of the Marengo Christian Church.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Scott VanMeter.

 

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Janiece E. Seacat VanMeter of Marengo, IN; sons, Scott W. VanMeter of Marengo, IN and Dean M. VanMeter of St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren, Michael Scott and Jason Hamilton VanMeter, Crystal Bullington, and Chase VanMeter; 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Brown Funeral Home in Milltown, IN.  Interment will follow in the Union Chapel Cemetery near Milltown, IN.

 

Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 from 4-8 pm and after 9:00 am until time of the service on Wednesday all at the funeral home.

 

Bro. Jason VanMeter will officiate the service.

 

Casket Bearers will be Michael and Chase VanMeter, James Bullington, Eddie Rothrock, Chris Schneider, and Tyler Troutman.

 

Memorial contributions can be made to the Marengo Christian Church, 470 S. Cedar Street, Marengo, IN  47140.

So sorry for this loss. He was such a kind person. I am sorry I couldn't get there for visitation. Prayers for the family.
