Dayton H. Hawkins, 74, of Milltown, IN died on August 21, 2016 at the Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, IN.  He was born on June 24, 1942 in Crawford County, IN to the late Albert and Nellie Louise Mills Hawkins.

 

He was a former truck driver and a member of the El Bethel Baptist Church near Milltown, IN.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Tamara Lynne Hawkins; brothers, Forrest, Alford, Robert, Albert Jr., Carl and Herbert Hawkins; and a sister, Dimple Mix.

 

He is survived by his wife, Patricia J. Crosby Hawkins of Milltown, IN; sons, John Timothy “Tim” Hawkins of Milltown, IN, Michael T. Hawkins (Ricki) of Marengo, IN, and Shane Bennett (Heather) of Marysville, OH; sisters, Arzettia Collins of Sulphur, IN and Virginia Broughton of Marengo, IN; grandchildren, Rachel Allen, Megan Harmon, and Brandon Hawkins; great grandchildren, Skylar Harmon, Zane Holland, and Brycin Allen.

 

The funeral service will be on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the Hillview Christian Church near Marengo, IN.

 

Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 from 4-8 pm and after 10:00 am until time of the service all at Hillview Christian Church.

 

Bro. Steve Lock and Bro. Bruce Hawkins will officiate the service.

 

Memorial Contributions can be made to Crawford County United Ministries Food Bank, P.O. Box 133, Marengo, IN  47140.

My first memories of Dayton where from visits with Virginia's family so t h Tami a and Tim in tow. Always a FUN TIME! Will miss his teasing and great humor.
