Hilda L. Sarles Bowman, 90, of Milltown, IN died Friday, August 1, 2014 at the Floyd Memorial Hospital. She was born on December 16, 1923 near Milltown, IN to the late Arthur and Stella Vance Sarles.
She was a former assembler at the ICI Army Ammunition Plant near Charlestown, IN and was a member of the Milltown Christian Church.
She is survived by her sons, Michael Bowman of Gallatin, TN, Lynn Bowman of Edinburgh, IN, Donnie Bowman of Marengo, IN, and Tim Bowman of Williston, SC; a sister, Mable Jones of Milltown, IN; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be on Monday, August 4, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Milltown Christian Church.
Visitation will be on Sunday, August 3, 2014 from 3-8 pm and after 9:00 am until time of the service all at the church.
Interment will follow in the Milltown Cemetery.
Bro. Delvin Sweeney will officiate the service.
Memorial Contributions can be made to the Milltown Christian Church.
Brown Funeral Home in Milltown, IN is entrusted with the services.

I have many memories of Hilda and Sheldon from the day they were married. She was a tad older and a much better cook and homemaker than I was cause she'd had more experience. We were neighbors a few years but friends forever. Sheldon and my first husband, Lendell Pirtle did a LOT of fishing together. Me and my children will treasure their memory and our deepest sympathy to all you boys and your families.

So sorry for your loss. Hilda and the Jones and Bowman families have been
lifelong friends of me and my family all of my life. Her and Sheldon were always very special people to me. Always friendly and smiling. I always looked up to them as God's special children. She will be sadly missed by family abd friends.

Hilda & Sheldon are among my earliest memories of the Milltown Christian Church, they were church fixtures for years and such fine people. My sincere condolences to sons Michael, Lynn, Donnie & Tim, to the large extended family, and to their many, many friends.
