Edward L. (Hogie) Sloan, 85, passed from this life on October 24, 2013 at the Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born on May 7, 1928 in Marengo, IN to the late Ridgely and Ermel Austin Sloan.
He was owner of Sloan’s Texaco. He was a member of the Marengo United Methodist Church, Marengo Masonic Lodge #475, Scottish Rited Valley of Evansville, Hadi Shrine Temple, and the Marengo Eastern Star.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mildred J. Trinkle Sloan of Marengo, IN; daughters, Lana Ransdell (John) of Milltown, IN, Regina Sloan of Marengo, IN, Rochelle Magill of Marengo, IN; grandchildren, Alyssa Speece (Joey) and Derek Ransdell both of Milltown, IN; a great-grandson, Brock Speece of Milltown, IN; a sister, Jeanie Haycox of English, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Milltown, IN.
Visitation will be from 2-8 pm on Saturday and after 9:00 am until time of the service on Sunday at the funeral home.
Pastor Deborah Reichenbach will officiate the service.
Interment will follow in the Marengo Cemetery.
